How can I cancel a membership

There are two ways a membership can end in Alba, and they behave differently. Knowing which one you want saves a lot of confusion.

Option 1: The member cancels their own recurring membership

A member can cancel from their profile on your booking page, under their products. When they do this:

  • Future renewals stop. Their saved card won't be charged again.
  • They keep their benefits until the end of the period they've already paid for. The page shows them the exact date their benefits expire.

This is the right option when someone wants to stop their subscription but use the time they've already paid for.

Option 2: You remove the membership from the admin panel

To remove a membership yourself, go to the Customers page, search for the customer, and click their name to open their customer card. Scroll to the membership section and choose to remove the membership.

Removing a membership ends all benefits straight away and stops any future renewals. There's no grace period with this action, so use it when you want the membership to end now.

If you want the member to keep the time they've already paid for, you have two choices: wait until their current period ends before removing it, or ask them to cancel from their own profile instead.

Refunds are handled separately

Removing or cancelling a membership never refunds money on its own. If you also need to return the original payment, do that from the Transactions page under Accounting.

A note on seasonal memberships

Seasonal (one-time) memberships don't renew, so there's nothing to cancel. Benefits run until the expiration date you set. If you remove a seasonal membership early from the customer card, the benefits end immediately.
