How can I cancel a membership
There are a few ways a membership can end in Alba. Pick the option that matches what should happen to the member's benefits.
What the customer sees on their membership
On the customer card under Memberships, recurring memberships show their renewal status:
- Renews [date] means the membership is set to renew on that date.
- Won't renew · active until [date] means renewals have stopped, but benefits stay until that date.
A recurring membership that will not renew also shows a Cancelling badge.
Option 1: Cancel from the admin panel
Go to Customers, find the customer, and open their customer card. In the Memberships section, open More actions and choose Cancel membership.
If the membership is recurring and still set to renew, you get two choices:
- Cancel at end of period stops future renewals, but the member keeps their benefits until the end of the period they have already paid for (the date shown in the modal).
- Cancel immediately ends the membership and all benefits right away, and stops future renewals.
If the membership is one-time, already set not to renew, or the paid period has ended, you only get the immediate cancel confirmation.
After a period-end cancel, the customer card updates to Won't renew · active until [date]. The member can keep using their benefits until that date. After an immediate cancel, the membership is removed from the active list.
Option 2: The member cancels themselves
A member can cancel a recurring membership from their profile on your booking page, under their products. That stops future renewals and keeps benefits until the end of the period they have already paid for. Their page shows the date benefits end.
Refunds are separate
Cancelling a membership never refunds money on its own. If you also need to return a payment, do that from Accounting → Transactions. See How to refund a membership.
Seasonal (one-time) memberships
Seasonal memberships do not renew, so there is nothing to cancel at period end. Benefits run until the expiration date you set. If you cancel a seasonal membership from the customer card, benefits end immediately.
