Guest checkout: when customers book without an account

Some venues let customers pay for a bay booking without creating an Alba account first. Alba turns this on per venue. If you want guest checkout for your venue, contact the Alba team.

What customers see

When guest checkout is enabled, a visitor who is not signed in can pick Continue as guest on the checkout summary. They enter their name and email, accept your terms, and pay by card.

This option only appears for standard bay bookings. It does not apply to events, lessons, memberships, gift cards, discount codes, or value cards. Rental equipment add-ons in checkout are supported.

After they pay

The customer gets a confirmation email at the address they entered. They land on a receipt page where they can verify their phone number and unlock the door if your venue uses access control.

The receipt also invites them to create an account. If they register with the same email, the booking is linked to their new profile automatically.

What you see in admin

Guest bookings show up in the calendar as Drop-in bookings. Open the booking drawer to see the guest name and email.

The activity log records Checked out as guest when the booking was created through guest checkout.

Walk-in bookings you create yourself

When you add a walk-in booking from the calendar, the customer field now has an optional Email field. If you add an email, Alba can send confirmations to that address. See How to book time on a customer’s behalf for the full walk-through.
