Number of players for bookings
Every booking in Alba can record how many people are playing in a bay. We call this the number of players. It shows up at checkout, on your calendar, and in your stats, and you can optionally charge extra for each additional player.
There are two parts to it:
- The player count itself which tracks how many people played a booking. Useful for understanding how full your bays really are.
- Per player pricing (optional) which adds a surcharge for each extra player beyond the first.
How it works for your customers
When someone books, they pick the number of players for their bay. The first player is covered by your standard bay price. If you've turned on per player pricing, each additional player adds a surcharge for that time slot, and the total updates automatically before they pay.
If you don't use per player pricing, the count is still recorded. It just doesn't change the price.
Turning on per player pricing
This is optional. Use it if you want to charge more when more people play.
- Go to Settings → Prices.
- Turn on the Per player pricing toggle.
- Fill in the Additional player price for each time slot. This works the same way as your standard prices, in either simple or advanced mode, so you can charge a different amount for peak and off-peak times.
- Save.
You can set a venue-wide additional player price, and override it for individual bays from the same resource settings where you set the bay's standard price.
Setting the maximum number of players
You can cap how many players a customer can select for each bay.
- Go to Products → Resources and open the bay you want to edit.
- Set the Max players field. The default is 4.
- Save.
Each bay can have its own limit, so a larger bay can allow more players than a smaller one.
Adjusting the player count on an existing booking
If a booking ends up with a different number of players than was booked, you can update the count from the booking in your calendar, under Number of players.
This is mainly for keeping your stats accurate. Changing the count after the fact doesn't charge the customer more or issue a refund. It won't change what was already paid.
